چکیده

Anatase TiO2 nanoparticles with average particle size ranging between 12 and 23 nm were synthesized by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. The structure and particle size were determined by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The specific surface areas were measured by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller and ranged from 65 to 125 m2/g. The size effects on the stability of TiO2 in the air were studied by x-ray diffraction and transmission electron diffraction for isochronally annealed samples in the temperature range of 700–800 °C. Only anatase to rutile phase transformation occurred. With the decrease of initial particle size the onset transition temperature was decreased. An increased lattice compression of anatase with the raising of temperature was observed by the x-ray peak shifts. Larger distortions existed in samples with smaller particle size. The calculated activation energy for phase transformation decreased from 299 to 180 kJ/mol with the decrease of initial anatase particle size from 23 to 12 nm. The decreased thermal stability in finer nanoparticles was primarily due to the reduced activation energy as the size related surface enthalpy and stress energy increased. © 2004 American Institute of Physics. Preparation and Characterization of CA−PEG−TiO2 Membranes: Effect of PEG and TiO2 on Morphology, Flux and Fouling Performance

Modified cellulose acetate (CA) membranes were prepared by dissolving the polymers in a mixture of acetone (AC) and N, N dimethylacetamide (DMAc) (70:30) solvent and deionized (DI) water was used in the coagulation bath. The introduction of polyethylene glycol (PEG) additive and TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) into the casting solution has changed the structures of the resulting membranes during the p...

Formation and Thermal Stability of Au2O3 on Gold Nanoparticles: Size and Support Effects

Gold nanoparticles with two different size distributions (average sizes of ∼1.5 and ∼5 nm) have been synthesized by inverse micelle encapsulation and deposited on reducible (TiO2) and nonreducible (SiO2) supports. The thermal and chemical stability of oxidized gold species formed upon cluster exposure to atomic oxygen have been investigated in ultrahigh vacuum using a combination of temperature...

Characterization and photocatalytic activity of SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxide nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel method

SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides have been prepared by sol-gel technique from titanium tetraisopropoxide and tetraethylorthosilicate. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen physisorption and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The results indicate that compared to pure TiO2, the SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides show higher the...
